Why I’m Running for Illinois State Senate—and Why I’m Ready to Lead

From the moment I entered public service, my mission has been clear: to bring communities together, uplift families, and create systems that truly work for people. That mission started in Arlington Heights—but the challenges I’ve tackled, and the solutions I’ve led, are relevant far beyond one town.

Now, I’m running to represent Illinois’ 27th District in the State Senate—because I believe our communities deserve a voice that understands how to turn big systems into better outcomes for everyday people.

A Record of Leadership Rooted in Impact

As the CEO of Shelter, Inc., a leading child welfare and family services nonprofit, I’ve spent years partnering with government agencies, managing complex funding, and advocating for the vulnerable. The work has been challenging—but it’s also been a masterclass in how government works, how systems fail, and how real leadership can drive change.

Here’s what that looks like in action:

Partnerships That Translate to State-Level Readiness

Through my leadership as CEO of Shelter, Inc., I have developed partnerships with major agencies that play critical roles in advancing child welfare and social services, including:

  1. Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS):

    • I’ve led Shelter’s efforts to provide emergency housing, foster care support, and trauma-informed services—while navigating the intricate web of DCFS regulations and funding. I’ve seen firsthand what policies do well and where they fall short. That insight will shape the solutions I bring to Springfield.

  2. Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS):

    • From housing to mental health, I’ve worked with DHS to meet urgent needs. That experience helps me understand how funding priorities, state mandates, and program eligibility directly impact families—and where we must improve access and efficiency.

  3. Administration for Children and Families (ACF):

    • At the federal level, I’ve managed programs that address housing insecurity, trafficking, and family reunification—giving me a broader view of how state policy intersects with national initiatives.

  4. Council on Accreditation (COA):

    • Shelter’s COA accreditation reflects my leadership in building transparent, high-performing systems. Accountability isn’t just a buzzword to me—it’s how I operate.

These are not just resume lines.

They're proof that I know how to get things done within and across systems that affect thousands of lives. In Springfield, I’ll continue to push for solutions that are people-centered, data-informed, and fiscally responsible.

What My Budget Leadership Says About My Senate Readiness

Over the last six years, I’ve helped grow Shelter, Inc. from a $1.8 million agency into a $6.7 million organization. That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident—it takes vision, strategy, and a deep understanding of financial accountability.

Here’s what I’ve done—and how it applies to the State Senate:

Scaled Government Contracts Responsibly
I’ve managed millions in public funds while maintaining compliance, oversight, and impact. In the Senate, I’ll advocate for responsible budgeting that delivers services without waste.

Attracted Investment-Level Donors
I’ve built meaningful public-private partnerships that allowed us to expand our services without overburdening taxpayers. That same creativity will guide how I pursue funding solutions for our district.

Made Bold, Strategic Growth Decisions
I know how to invest in programs that serve immediate needs while also planning for long-term sustainability. Illinois needs more of that thinking in its policymaking.

Ensured Full Compliance & Transparency
Whether reporting to government agencies or private donors, I’ve built trust by operating with clarity and ethics. That’s the kind of leadership voters should expect—and will get—from their State Senator.

Moving Forward Together

This campaign is about more than just one person—it’s about the communities we belong to and the future we want to build together. I’m running for State Senate because I believe that government should reflect the people it serves—and that policy should be shaped by those who’ve done the work on the ground.

I invite you to stay engaged, share your voice, and help shape a campaign rooted in compassion, competence, and community.

Thank you for your support, your trust, and your belief in what we can build together.

Let’s keep going—because together, we’re stronger.

With gratitude,
