Property taxes. The cost of living. Where our money actually goes and whether it's coming back to us. These are the things I hear about at every door across our district, and most of us were never really taught how any of it works.

So let’s change that.

Join us for a free community conversation with Ralph Martire of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. Ralph has spent his career making Illinois tax and budget policy make sense, and he's going to break down how our system works and where it can be fairer for families like yours. No jargon. No sales pitch. Just a real conversation about your money and how our state can do better by you.

What You'll Learn

  • How Illinois actually raises and spends money, in plain language

  • Why property taxes keep climbing and what drives them

  • How our tax system falls short for working and middle-class families

  • What a fairer system could look like and how we get there

Why This Matters

Carina hears it at every door across the district: the cost of living keeps rising, property tax bills keep climbing, and families are doing everything right and still feel like they're falling behind. But most of us were never taught how any of the system underneath that actually works.

That's the gap this night is meant to close. Because you can't fix what you don't understand, and you can't hold anyone accountable for a system nobody explained to you. Carina believes people deserve a government that's transparent about where their money goes and honest about who it's really working for.

Ralph Martire has spent his career making Illinois tax and budget policy make sense to regular people. We're grateful to partner with him, and with the Canty and Grasse campaigns, to bring this conversation to our community.

Come As You Are

You don't need a finance background. You don't need to know a single thing about the state budget. You just need an evening and a little curiosity about where your money goes and how our state can do better by you.

Bring a friend. Bring a neighbor. Bring Your Questions.
